Sead Haksabanovic made his debut and Dan Kemp scored a late winner as West Ham’s Under-21 side began their Checkatrade Trophy campaign with a 3-2 victory at Swindon Town.
Teenager Haksabanovic, recently signed from Swedish club Halmstads BK, started at the County Ground, where Martin Samuelsen opened the scoring early on.
Samuelsen pounced on a defensive mix-up and rounded the keeper to put the Hammers ahead after just six minutes.
Nathan Trott equalised with a penalty two minutes into the second half following a handball by Moses Makasi, who atoned by restoring the lead on 68 minutes.
Paul Mullin levelled for Swindon but West Ham again regained the lead, this time when Kemp scored from the rebound after Toni Martinez’s shot had hit the post.
