Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng says he does not want to be a makeweight in his club’s attempts to sign striker Andre Ayew from West Ham.
The midfielder is wanted by the Hammers as part of any deal that could send Ayew back to the Liberty Stadium.
But speaking after helping Swansea beat Arsenal 3-1 on Tuesday night, the South Korean made it clear he wanted to stay in south Wales.
“I don’t need to move because I don’t think West Ham is better than us,” he said.
“Also we are fighting relegation with West Ham as well.
“If Swansea want me to stay, I want to stay in the team so I can help stay in the Premier League. That’s my target and my decision.
“I want to play with my team-mates.”
Swansea had a bid of around £14m for their former striker Ayew rejected earlier this month.
Reports suggest they may need to break their transfer record, the £15.5m paid to Atletico Madrid for Borja Baston in 2016, to re-sign the 28-year-old.
Ki, who joined Swansea from Celtic for £5.5m in 2012, is out of contract at the end of the season after signing a new four-year deal in 2014.
