West Ham closing in on ex-Arsenal man Fabianski

West Ham are believed to be moving closer to signing former Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski from Swansea City.

The Mirror say the Hammers are keen to get the deal done sooner rather than later in case he is selected by Poland ahead of fellow ex-Arsenal man Wojciech Szczesny and impresses at the World Cup.

That would probably see Fabianski’s market value significantly increase, so the Hammers are looking to complete the signing before the tournament gets under way later this week.

Swansea are reported to have initially demanded £9m for the 33-year-old, who is expected to move on following the Welsh club’s recent relegation from the Premier League, but a £7m move is now in the offing.

Fabianski spent seven years with Arsenal, who signed him from Polish club Legia Warsaw in 2007.

He made 32 Premier League appearances for the Gunners before joining Swansea, where he has played 150 times in all competitions.

West Ham are also reportedly chasing the signing of Fabianksi’s Swansea team-mate Alfie Mawson.

The former Brentford defender, who was included in the England squad in March, is also expected to leave Swansea this summer.

Mawson, 24, is keen to return to the capital and talks are ongoing over a possible deal to take him to the London Stadium.
