QPR still in the race to sign £5m Hugill

QPR could still be in with a chance of signing Jordan Hugill despite interest from other Championship clubs.

Norwich have made a move to sign the striker, who spent last season on loan at Loftus Road from West Ham.

Several other Championship sides are reported to be interested in Hugill, who scored 15 goals for the R’s.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton is said to be desperate for Hugill to return this summer.

Reports that Norwich are willing to pay £5m for Hugill therefore seemed like a blow for QPR as they look to secure the target man’s return.

But the Evening Standard suggest that Rangers are still very much in the running to land Hugill – because of West Ham’s interest in Ebere Eze.

Rangers striker Eze has been linked with several Premier League clubs, including West Ham.

The Standard suggest the Hammers are keen to capture Eze and could include Hugill as part of any deal with QPR.

That would leave Warburton still in contention to sign Hugill even though the west London club are not in a financial position to match the £5m asking price.

Hammers boss David Moyes has also been linked with a move for QPR left-back Ryan Manning, whose contract expires next year.
