Former West Ham star Trevor Sinclair fears the club could lose David Moyes when his contract expires this summer.
Moyes’ second spell as Hammers boss has been a major success – and he could even steer them to a Champions League place.
Monday’s win at Wolves took Moyes’ side above London rivals Chelsea to fourth place in the Premier League table.
However, speaking on Talksport, Sinclair insisted that major investment in the squad will still be needed at the end of the season.
And he added: “Another thing that I fear is the fact that David Moyes’ contract is up.
“He appreciated his second opportunity to manage this West Ham side. I think he did well enough with his first opportunity, but he got sacked.
“There may be a little bit of ‘Should I trust these people again? If things don’t go well they’ll soon sack me’.
“Or maybe bigger clubs will be looking at David Moyes and thinking ‘What a fantastic job he’s done at that football club. Let’s go and have a little look at him’.”
Moyes has endured difficult spells at Manchester United, Sunderland and Real Sociedad since successful long-term stints at Preston and Everton.
But Sinclair believes the Scot should still be regarded as a top-class manager.
“He’s had a couple of failures. But in general, look at the consistency,” said the former England winger.
“I feel that consistency-wise he’s proved that he’s a top manager. I think any club could come in for him.”
