Warburton says Eze is unfazed by Premier League interest – as West Ham close in on QPR star

QPR boss Mark Warburton says Ebere Eze has not been affected by reports linking him with a big-money move to the Premier League.

West Ham appear to be leading the race to sign the 22-year-old forward, who has been outstanding in the second tier this season.

Tottenham and Crystal Palace have also been linked with Eze and reports now suggest Leeds want to sign him following their promotion back to the top flight.

It has been a whirlwind couple of years for Eze, who was rejected by a number of clubs and eventually picked up by Rangers after being released by Millwall.

And Warburton believes Eze deserves great credit for the way he has taken all the speculation about his future in his stride.

“He’s a very special player,” Warburton told West London Sport.

“He’s worked so hard and for a young guy to deal with the headlines as he has – it’s very easy to distract a young player – I’m delighted for him and the manner he’s dealt with some of the pressures.”

West Ham boss David Moyes and his assistant Alan Irvine were at Loftus Road on Saturday to see Eze in action.

He scored in a 4-3 win over Millwall, taking his goal tally for the season to 13.

Moyes will no doubt have been impressed with the skilful 22-year-old, who has been a revelation since moving to Rangers after being released by Millwall.

Meanwhile, Warburton has insisted it is not a foregone conclusion that he will lose Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has also been tipped to leave Loftus Road this summer.
