Boss hits back at reports West Ham want QPR star for £6m

QPR boss Mark Warburton has poured cold water on reports linking West Ham with goalkeeper Seny Dieng.

It was claimed that the Hammers are planning a £6m move for Dieng, who has impressed for the R’s this season since dislodging Joe Lumley as the west London club’s first choice keeper.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been tipped to sign a new keeper this summer and reports suggested he could move for Dieng, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

But Warburton clearly believes the speculation is well wide of the mark – and that Dieng would cost more than £6m.

He told West London Sport: “If you wanted to do something, would you go and put it in the papers?

“Where does this come from? Where do these figures come from?

“I’m sure David Moyes and West Ham would go about their business in a far more professional manner if they had an interest in the player.

“The validity of that source is questionable at best, I think. Put it that way.

“And the bigger picture; if any player leaves it will be for QPR’s valuation. Everyone’s got a price. The best player the world has a price if you’re prepared to pay it.

“If any player leaves QPR it will be if the board deem it to be good value for the club.”
