Striker Andre Ayew has left West Ham United to rejoin former club Swansea City on transfer deadline day.

Ayew, 28, has agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract at the Liberty Stadium after the Swans agreed an undisclosed fee with the Hammers, believed to be around £18m.

It exceeds the club-record fee of £15.5m paid out for Borja Baston and the deal to sign Sam Clucas, which could eventually rise to £16.5m.

Ayew joined West Ham for £20.5m almost 18 months ago and links up with his brother Jordan in south Wales.

He scored 12 goals in 50 West Ham appearances, 31 of which were starts.

West Ham are set to replace him with Preston striker Jordan Hugill.

In other Hammers transfer news, midfielder Moses Makasi has joined League One club Plymouth Argyle on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old scored in a Checkatrade Trophy win at Swindon Town and has been named on the first-team bench on five occasions this season.
