Antonio rues missed chance for West Ham against Chelsea

Michail Antonio rued his missed chances for West Ham in their goalless draw at home to Chelsea.

Antonio had two opportunities in the first half and Andriy Yarmolenko missed an even better chance with 13 minutes remaining.

“I should have scored but it’s one of those things,” Antonio told Sky Sports.

“We’ve always believed we could do it, it’s been about players gelling. I feel like it’s two points dropped but we can take it to next week.”

Chelsea had plenty of possession, especially in the first half, but West Ham defended well and restricted the Blues to just a handful of chances.

Like Antonio, Hammers defender Declan Rice felt his side should have taken all three points.

“Without a doubt. We were excellent today – we gave it 100%,” Rice said.

“They played with so many midfielders – Hazard in the pockets, linking the play. It was tough but I’m proud of the lads.

“We took a lot of confidence from last week. The intensity’s gone up in training and everyone’s been buzzing.”

It was the first time Chelsea have failed to score under Maurizio Sarri, who arrived at the London Stadium with a 100% record as Blues boss.
