The Sun say a move by West Ham to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has stalled.

The Hammers are said to have been hopeful of buying the Portugal star for £36m but it is claimed that Sporting want £40m and are refusing to lower the asking price.

Manager Slaven Bilic was apparently hoping to have Carvalho in his squad for this weekend’s game against Southampton.

A ‘club insider’ is quoted as saying “It’s only 50-50 now. They are holding out.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to be linked with Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

The Sun claim the Blues plan to table a £50m bid for the England left-back after Chelsea’s game against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday.

It is claimed that Tottenham will demand that amount if they are to sell Rose and that Chelsea are willing to do the deal.

The Daily Mail say Chelsea have had another approach for Alex Sandro rejected by Juventus.

The Brazil left-back was widely tipped to move to Stamford Bridge but Juve have since insisted he will not be sold.

Tottenham are optimistic of completing a deal to sign Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez for an initial £27m, the Daily Mirror say.

And West London Sport reports that Fulham are looking to tie up a deal to sign Shey Ojo from Liverpool on loan are are in talks to sign left-back Joe Bennett from Cardiff.
