Sunday paper round-up: Everton linked with Reid

Everton are weighing up a £9m move for Winston Reid, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Ronald Koeman reportedly wants to bring in cover for the injured Ramiro Funes Mori during the final weeks of the transfer window.

The Everton manager is said to be considering making a bid for West Ham defender Reid, who has just returned to training following an operation on a shin injury.

Meanwhile, speculation continues over the future of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in Sunday’s newspapers.

The Sunday Express claim Paris St-Germain will table a £35m bid for the Chilean, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expires next summer.

The Sunday Mirror say Sanchez is ready to hand in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move to Manchester City.

And the Mail on Sunday say Arsenal doctors visited Sanchez this week to confirm he is ill.

It comes after the player posted on Instagram that he was sick, prompting even more speculation that he could be on the move.

The Sunday Mirror say Koeman will step up his interest in Olivier Giroud but wants an answer from Arsenal on whether they are willing to sell the French striker for £25m.

The Sunday Express claim Tottenham plan to offer Dele Alli a new contract in order to fend off interest from Barcelona, who have been linked with the England international.

Manchester United will look to complete the £40m signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea this week, the Mail on Sunday say.

The Sunday Mirror, on the other hand, say manager Jose Mourinho is frustrated at United’s apparent reluctance to pay the £40m Chelsea reportedly want for Matic.
