Paper round-up: Speculation continues over Hammers targets

Tottenham are set to rebuff any West Ham advances for Kieran Trippier, according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammers are also said to have made an enquiry about former player Glen Johnson’s availability as they search for a new right-back, with Hull City’s Ahmed Elmohamady and Dominic Iorfa of Wolves reportedly on their shortlist as well.

The Mail suggests Trippier is not for sale in January, despite being behind Kyle Walker in the pecking order at Spurs.

And West Ham’s apparent approach for Johnson could also fail with Stoke apparently keen to take up an option to extend the 32-year-old’s contract.

Meanwhile, Calcio Mercato claims the Hammers have spoken to former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, who may be allowed to leave Juventus.

There is also further speculation about boss Slaven Bilic’s interest in Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

According to Goal, West Ham have tabled a £20m for the former Fulham forward, who has scored 19 goals for the Scottish giants this season.

The Mail claim they will need to pay closer to £30m, which could force them to revisit cheaper bids for Brentford’s Scott Hogan and Sunderland’s Jermaine Defoe.

However, Sky Sports News HQ quotes a West Ham source as saying any reports a bid has been made for Dembele are “wrong and inaccurate”.
