West Ham will make a move for Daniel Sturridge in January but are unlikely to be able to land the Liverpool striker, reports say.
The Sun declare that the Hammers “will make an all-out attempt” to sign Sturridge but that they “will get short shrift” because Liverpool are currently short of attacking options.
There has been speculation over England international Sturridge’s future for some time, with reports claiming that he is unhappy at Anfield and could leave when the transfer window opens in the new year.
The Sun say West Ham would like to sign him, even if is only on loan for the rest of the season.
But Liverpool would apparently be reluctant to part with him given that Danny Ings is out injured and Sadio Mane will be on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal.
The Daily Mirror run a similar story, suggesting that West Ham are desperate to take Sturridge to east London and would be willing to pay big money for him.
The Mirror say Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would not want to lose him, particularly because Philippe Coutinho is also unavailable after being ruled out for five weeks with an ankle ligament injury.
Meanwhile, the Daily Star have picked up on Italian media reports claiming that both West Ham and Liverpool are keen on Dynamo Kiev’s Polish striker Lukasz Teodorczyk, who is currently on loan at Anderlecht.
