Wenger tipped to stay on at Arsenal and spend big

The Daily Mirror say Arsene Wenger is set to be given a two-year deal by Arsenal and will spend heavily but is resigned to losing both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Speculation over the future of Arsenal manager Wenger continues, as does uncertainty over his two star players.

Following reports that Wenger could leave at the end of the season and then reports he could sign a one-year contract, the Mirror now suggest he is set to sign the two-year deal he was initially offered.

The newspaper adds that Sanchez and Ozil, whose contracts expire in 2018 and who have yet to agree new deals at the Emirates Stadium, look likely to go.

It is also claimed that Wenger will be given a budget of more than £100m by the board this summer, with the Mirror linking several players with possible moves to north London.

They include Celtic duo Moussa Dembele and Marc Tierney, Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland, Everton’s Ross Barkley, Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.

Keepers Jordan Pickford and Joe Hart are also said to be on the club’s radar, as his Jose Gaya, although Manchester City are said to be in pole position to sign the Valencia left-back.
