Paper round-up: Spurs and Arsenal said to have missed out on Wilmot

The Sun say Watford have beaten Tottenham and Arsenal as well as Leeds United to the signing of Stevenage’s teenage defender Ben Wilmot.

Wilmot has repeatedly linked with both north London clubs but a deal has apparently been agreed for him to move to Vicarage Road.

The Sun claim Chelsea also wanted the 18-year-old, who was recently left out of Stevenage’s squad for a game against Newport because a deal to sell him was in the offing.

Meanwhile, West Have been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s former Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa.

Sky are reporting that German publication FussballEck have claimed that the South Korean is among West Ham’s transfer targets.

He has struggled for form at Dortmund and would apparently cost around €13m (about £11.3m).

Javier Hernandez is ready to quit West Ham this summer in search of more regular first-team football, the Daily Mirror say.

And there continues to be speculation over Antonio Conte’s future as Chelsea boss.

The Daily Mail say Conte’s position is under scrutiny again following Sunday’s draw at home to West Ham and that he could leave Stamford Bridge before the end of the season.

The Times, on the other hand, say Chelsea do not plan to terminate the Italian’s contract before the summer, when they are widely tipped to replace him.
