Paper round-up: Tottenham reportedly in talks to sign Brooks

Tottenham are in talks to sign highly-rated Sheffield United youngster David Brooks in a £10m deal, The Sun on Sunday say.

Midfielder Brooks has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

The Sun on Sunday say Spurs believe the Wales international could be converted into a striker and that the club might be willing to loan Brooks back to the Blades.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich believe they can beat Tottenham and Arsenal to the signing of Bordeaux forward Malcom, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Sunday Mirror also say Arsenal have received a boost in their apparent pursuit of Nabil Fekir after Barcelona pulled out of a race to sign the Lyon forward.

Former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is the latest manager to be linked with Chelsea.

The Sunday Mirror claim the Dutchman could be appointed on an interim basis if Antonio Conte goes before the end of the season.

It comes after Van Gaal was quoted as saying: “I’d be interested in a Premier League club where I’d have the chance to get one over on Manchester United.”

And the Daily Star Sunday say Chelsea and Crystal Palace disagree over the best way to treat Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s ankle injury.

The midfielder, who is on a season-long loan at Palace from the Blues, has not played for almost two months.
