West London Sport, on the other hand, recently reported that Rangers had received no enquiries about Smithies despite speculation about his future.

Get West London have previously said that Rangers are “thought to be interested” in Newcastle’s Sammy Ameobi, “rumoured to be interested” in Dijon forward Mamadou Thiam and “rumoured to be interested in making an approach” for Lorient winger Denis Bouanga.
Get West London have also recently linked with R’s with 41-year-old keeper Shay Given, and linked Conor Washington with a possible move to Birmingham after fans’ website Vital Birmingham City published an article asking whether Washington might be the kind of forward who might succeed at St Andrews.
