Paper round-up: Mirror say Spurs are ready to offload five players

There continues to be speculation over the futures over a number of Tottenham players – the Daily Mirror say boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to wave goodbye to five of them.

The Mirror say Spurs will listen to offers for Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose and that Pochettino is also ready to offload Mousa Dembele, Fernando Llorente and Moussa Sissoko.

The decision is said to have been taken before Sunday’s game against Leicester, after which Pochettino sparked speculation about his own future by saying he would hold talks with chairman Daniel Levy and that the club need to show more ambition.

The Sun therefore claim Chelsea want Pochettino to take over as their new manager this summer.

The Daily Mail, meanwhile, say eight of Antonio Conte’s backroom staff will also leave if the Italian is sacked as Chelsea boss.

There also continues to be speculation over who will replace outgoing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

The Daily Mail claim former Gunners midfielder Mikel Arteta is the preferred candidate of Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis and director Josh Kroenke.

Arteta, currently coaching at Manchester City, is one of several contenders linked with the job at the Emirates Stadium.

The Daily Star claim Massimiliano Allegri could still take the job if he is given control over transfers, despite reports he is set to stay at Juventus.

Steve Bould is delaying a decision over whether or not to stay on as Arsenal assistant manager as he waits to find out who the next manager will be, according to the Daily Telegraph.

And West Ham met Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca just hours after manager David Moyes’ contract expired, the Mail say.
