New West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is already at odds with the club’s hierarchy over transfers, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Mirror’s story claims that Pellegrini, who was appointed just a fortnight ago, is unhappy at having requests for signings knocked back.
He is said to have told friends that he was appointed on the basis of promises made – and that they are not being kept.
The Mirror say Pellegrini “hinted at the behind-the-scenes power battle he is facing” with comments he made during a visit to his native Chile.
He was quoted as saying: “The challenge with West Ham is spectacular. Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team because they are rich but careful with money.
“We are trying to get the owner to loosen up to make an important investment and thus bring the players we need. The idea is to sign a great figure.
“If we manage to get a big figure it is very important for the status of the club because that will help convince other players.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham are planning talks with Manchester United over a potential deal for Anthony Martial, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs have been linked with the United forward in recent weeks and the Mail say the club plan to step up their interest.
Chelsea have also recently been linked with Martial amid speculation over his future.
And the Mirror claim Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham are all interested in West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon.
Rondon reportedly has a £16m buy-out clause in his contract and has been tipped to leave The Hawthorns this summer.
