Paper round-up: Mirror say Real Sociedad want Monreal

Real Sociedad want to sign Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Spanish club apparently believe they can tempt Monreal, 32, away from the Emirates Stadium this summer even though Arsenal have given no indication they want to sell.

Sociedad have sounded out Monreal’s representatives and are keen to get the deal done, the Mirror say.

Meanwhile, The Times reports that West Ham are looking complete the signings of Jack Wilshere, Ukraine forward Andriy Yarmolenko and Paraguay centre-back Fabian Balbuena.

The out-of-contract Wilshere is moving on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal and is expected to sign for the Hammers this week.

The Times say he is likely to be joined at the London Stadium by Yarmolenko and Balbuena, who are set to arrive from Borussia Dortmund and Corinthians respectively.

Corinthians have confirmed that Balbuena is set to join the Hammers after a deal was agreed.

Yarmolenko will reportedly have a medical after West Ham agreed a £17.5 million deal with Dortmund.

The Sun say new Derby manager Frank Lampard has come in with a last-minute bid for West Ham defender Reece Burke, who was set to join Hull City.

The Mirror say Antonio Conte will take training at Chelsea on Monday but still faces being sacked as manager.

And the Daily Star declare that fans of Chelsea and Arsenal are “on red alert” after reports that John Michael Seri has travelled to London ahead of a potential move.

Both clubs have long been linked with Seri, while West London Sport recently reported that Fulham are interested in the Nice midfielder.
