Arsenal keen on Hammers youngster Rice, Sun say

Arsenal are keen on West Ham’s teenage defender Declan Rice, The Sun say.

Rice, 17, has impressed for the Hammers’ development side and featured during the first-team’s pre-season campaign.

That has led to him being touted as another highly-rated West Ham prospect likely to attract the interest of top clubs.

Arsenal have duly been linked with the centre-back, who has broken into the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad.

It is claimed that the Gunners have long admired Rice and are planning a move for him.

He has three years left on his contract and it would apparently take a “huge bid” in order for Arsenal to be able to sign him.

It comes amid continued speculation over the future of another West Ham youngster, Reece Oxford, who has been linked with various clubs over the past year or so, including Tottenham and Chelsea.

The Sun say that with Oxford, also 17, yet to commit his long-term future to the Hammers, Manchester United and Manchester City are monitoring the situation.

The newspaper recently reported that Oxford was set to sign a new long-term contract at the London Stadium.

Oxford was said to have snubbed interest from other clubs and agreed terms on a five-year deal.
