Arsenal are trying sign Leicester City teenager Terell Pennant along with Manchester United, the Sunday Mirror say.
Gunners scouts are said to have watched the highly-rated 14-year-old score twice in an Under-16 match against Southampton on Saturday.
Pennant, who can play through the middle or on either wing, has yet to sign a contract and his current deal expires at the end of the seasonl, prompting speculation about his long-term future.
Pennant’s younger brother Kian is also on Leicester’s books and the Sunday Mirror suggest the pair could end up moving as a package.
The same newspaper also claims Arsenal have entered a race to sign Everton’s Ross Barkley and will compete for his signature with Chelsea and Tottenham, who continue to be linked with him.
Arsenal scouted Monaco’s 22-year-old defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko against Manchester City in the Champions League this week, the Sun on Sunday say.
And there is inevitably more speculation over the future of under-fire Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger following his team’s defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The Sunday Express reckon Wenger, who faces opposition from many disgruntled fans, will sign a one-year deal to stay with the Gunners rather than the two-year contract he was offered earlier in the season.
