Paper round-up: Arsenal linked with Smalling and Marseille reportedly want Payet back

Arsenal could target Chris Smalling if Manchester United sign Victor Lindelof, the Daily Star claim.

Benfica defender Lindelof was previously touted for a move to Chelsea and is now being linked with United.

The Star reckon Smalling could be pushed out of the United side if Lindelof moves to Old Trafford and that Arsenal and Everton could then make a move for the England international.

Meanwhile, Arsenal want Sevilla’s former Blackburn and Stoke midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, according to the Daily Express.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in bringing N’Zonzi back to the Premier League during this month’s transfer window, as are Manchester City.

L’Equipe say Marseille are ready to launch a bid to re-sign Dimitri Payet from West Ham.

The French club, which sold Payet to the Hammers in 2015, is apparently willing to pay between £20m and £30m to take him back.

And The Sun declare that Arturo Vidal has hinted at a “sensational Blues transfer” after he ‘liked’ a post on Instagram.

The Bayern Munich midfielder reacted to a story linking him with a potential move to Chelsea.

Chilean Vidal, who played under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at Juventus, is one of a host of players the Italian has been tipped to move for.
