Highly-rated Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah has joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of Spurs’ best prospects and a number of other Championship clubs were keen to snap him up on loan.

Villa, whose other summer signings include former Chelsea captain John Terry, won the race – further boosting their squad as they chase a return to the Premier League this season.

“I can’t wait to get started,” Onomah told Villa’s website after finalising the move.

“This is a huge football club and I want to really make my mark here and prove to be a player the manager can rely on.

“I know that promotion is the aim and I am here to help us achieve that.”

Onomah, a product of Tottenham’s youth system, has made 13 Premier League appearances, all of them as a substitute, and has featured 32 times for the Spurs first team in total.

He made his senior debut in an FA Cup match against Burnley in January 2015 and his league debut came against Villa later that year.

The Enfield-born player is an England Under-21 international and also featured in this year’s Under-20 European Championship.

Onomah has also represented his country at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels.
