Carroll set for medical ahead of Swansea move

Tottenham’s Tom Carroll is to have a medical at Swansea City ahead of a planned move to the Welsh club.

Spurs have accepted an offer for the 24-year-old midfielder, who spent the season before last on loan at Swansea.

He is now set to move to the Liberty Stadium on a permanent basis for around £4.5m.

Carroll was regarded as a major prospect during his time in Tottenham’s academy but he has since been unable to establish himself as a first-team player at White Hart Lane.

He has started just four Premier League games for Spurs, the last of which came against Crystal Palace in August.

Carroll has also had loan spells at Leyton Orient, QPR and Derby County.

He has slipped down the pecking order at Spurs this season because of the arrival of Victor Wanyama and the emergence of impressive youngster Harry Winks.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino indicated this week that he was ready to let Carroll move on in order to play first-team football.

Speaking at a press conference, Pochettino said: “You know it’s true that we cannot keep all our players, and maybe Tom is not playing and is not too much involved with the team.”
