Paper round-up: Tottenham looking to pip Everton to signing of Portugal star

Tottenham want to pip Everton to the signing of Andre Gomes, The Sun say.

The Portuguese midfielder is on loan from Barcelona at Everton, who are looking to sign him on a permanent basis.

The Sun say Spurs also want him and could make Barcelona an offer ahead of the January transfer window.

It comes amid continued speculation that Real Madrid and Manchester United could target Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.

The Sun declare that chairman Daniel Levy “has finally realised he will need to back the Spurs boss in the transfer market” and may sanction a bid for Gomes.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Harry Kane has appointed his older brother Charlie to oversee his career.

Charlie, 29, was reportedly heavily involved in negotiating Kane’s new six-year contract with Spurs, signed in June.

Arsenal continue to be linked with Roma winger Cengiz Under.

The Daily Mirror have picked up on Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that the 21-year-old Turk was recently watched by an Arsenal scout.

A Gunners representative is said to have watched him in action in a Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen in which he scored.

The Mail reports that Arsenal boss Unai Emery may have to sign a new defender because of the club’s injury problems.

And the Mirror claim Chelsea have been told that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic will be available in January for the right price.
