Tottenham have reportedly held talks about a potential deal to sign Bruno Fernandes – a move that could force Manchester United to make a quick decision over the midfielder.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Spurs have spoken with the player’s agent Miguel Pinho about the possibility of signing the Sporting Lisbon star.
United have been linked with Fernandes but are believed to want more time to decide whether to go through with the signing.
The Telegraph suggest United might have to make up their minds, though, because Spurs are interested in the Portugal international.
Pinho has met with United officials but it is believed that United are primarily focused on sealing a deal to sign Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Palace are refusing to lower their asking price for Wan-Bissaka and want at least £50m for the England Under-21 international, who has been linked with a number of other clubs, including Chelsea.
United could now also face a bidding war over Fernandes, with Spurs seemingly stepping up their interest and reports in Portugal suggesting Sporting could get as much as £70m for him.
He scored 31 goals in 50 appearances last season and has long been tipped to move on this summer.
