Jan Vertonghen expects to sign a new contract at Tottenham.
The Belgium defender’s current contract, which he signed in December 2016, is due to expire at the end of the season.
But he believes he will sign a one-year extension to that deal, committing him to the club until 2020.
Spurs have an option in the contract enabling them to extend it by 12 months and Vertonghen expects them to do so.
Belgian media have quoted him as saying: “My contract is expiring at the end of the season, but Tottenham have an option to extend it with one year.
“I think they will take up the option. We’ll see what happens.”
Vertonghen, 31, has made 191 Premier League appearances for Tottenham and established himself as a key player for them since being signed from Ajax in July 2012.
Four of those appearances – and one of his five league goals for the club – have come this season.
