Spurs ace admits he’s ‘one of the luckiest guys on the planet’ after let-off against Man City

Christian Eriksen admitted he was “one of the luckiest guys on the planet” after Tottenham’s sensational Champions League triumph against Manchester City.

Eriksen was excellent for Spurs, playing a part in the build up to two of their goals at the Etihad Stadium, where they lost 4-3 but went through to the semi-finals on away goals after a 4-4 draw on aggregate.

But Eriksen breathed a huge sigh of relief when a last-gasp City goal was disallowed for offside after the Dane had given the ball away.

“I must be one of the luckiest guys on the planet today, with the last ball, they scored and I thought it was over,” Eriksen told BT Sport.

“I thanked God that the referee gave an offside. The whole game was a rollercoaster.”

Son Heung-min was brilliant for Spurs, scoring twice and leading the line superbly in the absence of the injured Harry Kane.

“It was a crazy game but we are very proud. It was just madness,” Son declared.

“It was a weird game to play because you could expect anything. It was important we fight together. It’s emotional.

“I’m very, very proud of my team-mates. We fought together until the end.”
