Spurs to assess Dembele foot injury

Tottenham will assess a foot injury Moussa Dembele picked up against Manchester United.

Dembele went off midway through the second half of the match at Old Trafford, where Spurs were beaten 1-0.

The Belgian playmaker picked up a heavy knock and his condition will be assessed on Monday, boss Mauricio Pochettino said at his post-match press conference.

The defeat left Spurs 10 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, who beat West Bromwich Albion earlier in the day.

But Pochettino, whose team are at home to Hull City on Wednesday, remained defiant.

“You have to score to win. I think we had control of the game,” Pochettino said.

“I think it was a very competitive game and the performance was good. It is always difficult to play at Old Trafford.

“But with the chances we had we didn’t score and then they scored when they had the opportunity. They were clinical.

“Now we need to look forward and get ready for the next game on Wednesday.

“I am calm. We want to improve but I also think we need to be positive and try to keep going.”
