Pochettino believes Spurs have turned corner

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes his side have turned the corner following a difficult spell.

Spurs have failed to reach the knockout stage of the Champions League and had won only one of their previous six league matches before thrashing Swansea 5-0 on Saturday.

But they secured a Europa League place with a convincing 3-1 win against CSKA Moscow at Wembley, where Toby Alderweireld returned to action.

Coming after defeats there against Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen, the victory was a much-needed boost.

“I think we have recovered and are much better,” Pochettino said during his post-match press conference.

“After Monaco, our performances against Chelsea and Swansea and again today – we are playing better and are showing our real quality.”

And Pochettino believes having the likes of Harry Kane, who missed the early part of the season, and defender Alderweireld back from injury has been crucial

“I think we struggled in the last month a half because we had some problems,” he said.

“When we have the squad fully fit I think we are stronger. I think we’ve recovered that feeling that maybe we lost.

“We need all the players fit to try to compete. Now we need to look ahead. “
