Man City v Tottenham player ratings

Tottenham pulled off an incredible triumph at the Etihad Stadium to knock Manchester City out and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in a truly remarkable game. Here’s how we rated the Spurs players.

Hugo Lloris: 7
Questionable positioning for City’s third goal but made amends with important saves to deny Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.

Kieran Trippier: 5
A performance that will do nothing to silence his critics. Gave Raheem Sterling far too much room for the opening goal and was asleep for City’s third.

Toby Alderweireld: 6
Shaky in the first half but did better in the second, producing some all-important clearances and interceptions.

Jan Vertonghen: 6
Like his centre-back partner, had some dodgy moments but played his part in the rearguard action in the second half.

Danny Rose: 6
Found the going tough as City threatened out wide, but certainly fared much better than Trippier on the opposite side.

Victor Wanyama: 5
Competed well but City ran rings around him at times.

Moussa Sissoko: 5
Also second best in midfield before going off injured in the first half.

Dele Alli: 8
Great stuff from the fit-again Alli, who beautifully set up Spurs’ first goal, which proved to be the platform for an amazing victory.

Christian Eriksen: 7
Involved in the build up to the first two goals and overall was excellent. Fortunate after City’s injury-time goal was ruled out after Eriksen had given the ball away.

Lucas Moura: 7
Also involved in the first two Spurs goals and was a constant threat to City before the visitors lost their way somewhat for a large chunk of the second half.

Son Heung-Min: 9
Just brilliant from Son, whose two goals took his tally for the season to 20. Led the line superbly.

Fernando Llorente: 6
Struggled to make an impact after coming on and seemed like the last thing Spurs needed up front – until he got the winner to clinch a sensational victory.
