Former Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has said Harry Kane should join Barcelona or Real Madrid if he gets the chance.
Kane, who insists he is happy at Spurs, has been linked with Real in recent months.
And ex-Russia international Pavlyuchenko told Goal.com he believes Kane should move to one of Spain’s top two clubs were they to come in for him.
“If Barcelona and Real Madrid call him, then yes, he has to go,” he said.
“But if it’s to join a team that occupies the middle of the table in Spain or Italy, it’s not worth it.
“But, he must first know what he wants. It is certain that, if Barca and Real are present, then it’s normal to want to go there.
“Tottenham is a big club, but they don’t play in the final stages of the Champions League.
“If he wants to go even further, he must, of course, join a bigger club.”
Kane briefly played alongside Pavlyuchenko as a youngster at Spurs.
Pavlyuchenko, who left White Hart Lane to join Lokomotiv Moscow in January 2012, said: “Today, as you can see, he scores a lot of goals. Many clubs want him and for that I can only say “well done”.
“I look at him and see how effective he is. This pleases me, especially since I was at his side during the first steps.
“I am very happy for him. He is a great Tottenham player today.”
