Paper round-up: Tottenham set to sign Connell

Tottenham are set to sign highly-rated Bolton Wanderers youngster Luca Connell, according to The Sun.

Spurs have been tipped to take advantage of Bolton’s financial problems by snapping up the Irish 18-year-old.

The Sun say Wolves, Everton and Norwich also want Connell but that he is set for a move to north London.

The Sun also say Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all want Leicester’s England defender Harry Maguire.

Meanwhile, The Independent reports that Mesut Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut has said that the German “bleeds Arsenal red” and will stay at the club until at least 2021.

He told Turkish Football: “Rumours will always persist, there is no doubt about that,

“But one thing I can guarantee is Mesut’s loyalty. His mind is focused on Arsenal, and Arsenal only. Mesut bleeds Arsenal red, and respecting his contract is a certainty.”

Maurizio Sarri has “risked the wrath” of owner Roman Abramovich by suggesting Chelsea’s friendly in America may harm their chances of winning the Europa League, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea will play Arsenal in the final in Azerbaijan on May 29 and are due to play against New England Revolution on May 15.

Blues head coach Sarri said after the semi-final win against Eintracht Frankfurt: “Unfortunately we have to go to the United States but we have 10 days to prepare for the final and we have to recover energy.

“We go there for a good reason, so as a man I am very happy to go. As a coach, of course, I am a little bit worried because I know very well that the team now needs rest. So it is not the best way to prepare the final, I think.”

The Independent say Chelsea star Eden Hazard is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid.

And Chelsea have applied for a visa for Mason Mount to join the club’s pre-season trip to Japan, The Sun reports.
