United tipped to move for Kane as Spurs prepare for striker search

Manchester United are ready to make a £90m move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the under-fire Glazer family plan to quell anger among United fans by making a move for the England captain this summer.

United’s owners are said to have decided to target Kane amid speculation that he could look to leave Spurs in search of silverware.

The Daily Mail reports that Spurs are set for another transfer window of trying to find a back-up option for Kane as Carlos Vinicius is set to return to Benfica when his loan spell ends.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph suggest that West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone could cost as much as £20m.

Tottenham are among clubs to have been linked with Johnstone, who has been widely tipped to leave Albion in light of the club’s likely relegation from the Premier League.

And The Sun reports that Tottenham will still have to pay Jose Mourinho £10m despite Portuguese becoming Roma boss.

Mourinho, recently sacked by Spurs, will take over at the Serie A club at the end of the season.

He said in a statement: “It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years.

“The incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season.”
