Arne Slot has seemingly ruled himself out of the running to be Tottenham boss.
Spurs were heavily linked with the 44-year-old Feyenoord manager, with chairman Daniel Levy reported to be close to appointing him.
However, Slot insisted on Thursday morning that he intends to sign a new contract to stay at the Dutch club.
In a statement, Slot said: “I have been hearing a lot of rumours going around about other interest in me.
“Although I am thankful, my wish is to stay at Feyenoord and continue working on what we created last year.
“There is not – and there has not been – transfer conversation and yesterday’s meeting was exclusively for an extension.
“All talks with the club have always been only in that sense. Looking forward to next season with Feyenoord.”
Speaking on Talksport, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan suggested that Slot had used Tottenham’s interest to help him negotiate a better deal at Feyenoord – and that Levy’s inability to prise him away represents a failure on his part.
Jordan said: “It feels like there’s been a bit of leverage and an opportunity for him to get a better deal from his club.
“If you wanted him then you have to get him. We’re all about outcomes. You’re in the outcomes business. If you wanted him then you need to get him.”
