City ‘willing to wait a year’ to sign Kane

Manchester City are reportedly willing to wait a year to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.

ESPN reports that City accept that agreeing a deal for the England striker this summer might not be possible.

Kane has three years remaining on his contract and City are said to be prepared to try again next year if they are unable to sign him during this transfer window.

It comes amid continued speculation over the future of the player, who has indicated that he wants to leave Spurs in order to win silverware and play in the Champions League.

It was recently suggested by the Daily Star that City are planning a ‘take-it-or-leave-it offer’ of £100m and that it will be submitted after Euro 2020.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to be demanding closer £150m for Kane and has warned that Tottenham will not be prepared to let him leave for less than the asking price.

Levy recently told Spurs’ website: “I am never going to talk about any specific player in public. All I will say is his frustrations in not winning are shared by me and all the fans and players. We all want to win.”

Levy was speaking as the appointment of new director of football Fabio Paratici was confirmed.

He said: “One of the items that Fabio will have to deal with when he comes in is which players are going to be retained, which will be asked to look for other clubs.

“There is a market out there. What we want and what other clubs want is not always possible to achieve. We will do whatever is right for the club.”
