Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Jose Mourinho was right to blame his players after the 2-2 draw at Newcastle.
Spurs were punished for some appalling defending and a late Magpies equaliser meant Mourinho’s side dropped more points in the battle for a top-four finish.
He pointed the finger at his players afterwards – and O’Hara feels he had every right to.
O’Hara said on Talksport: “I think he was right. You have to look at the manager and say what do you want from him there.
“He’s put a team out on the field who got a decent result against Aston Villa and then they go out against Newcastle and the defensive display was just shocking.”
Davinson Sanchez in particular was woeful at St James’ Park, where Harry Kane scored twice to put Spurs ahead.
Kane continues to be outstanding, but the team in general emerged with little credit.
“Sanchez was so poor,” O’Hara said.
“For half an hour he looked like he was playing with wellies on. It was just a really bad game for him. He didn’t play well.
“There’s no cohesion in the back line at all. As a back four, it’s so bad.
“It was a poor, poor performance. Without Harry Kane we’re so far off it – he’s just unbelievable for Spurs.
“You’re never going to win games if you can’t keep clean sheets. You’ve got no chance.”
