Tottenham fear Harry Kane could face several weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The England striker suffered the injury towards the end of the weekend defeat at home to Manchester United and a spell without him would be a huge blow for Spurs.
Fernando Llorente is the current back-up option but there are doubts over his future, with his former club Athletic Bilbao interested in re-signing him.
So what are Tottenham’s possible options if they look to make a signing as cover for Kane?
Malcom
Tottenham expressed an interest in the Brazilian prior to his move from Bordeaux to Barcelona, where he has failed to impress. With reports suggesting that Barca could be willing to send him out on loan, he could be an option this month.
Mauro Icardi
Icardi’s future at Inter Milan looks far from certain and reports suggest he would jump at the chance to move to the Premier League. His personality and all-action style would no doubt make him a popular figure among Spurs fans.
Gerard Moreno
The Spaniard has caught the eye for Villarreal this season and a number of Premier League clubs have been keeping tabs on him. He has scored 26 goals in 78 appearances for Villarreal since joining from Espanyol, where he scored 39 goals in 118 games.
Krzysztof Piatek
Aged 23 and enjoying a fine season in Italy for Genoa, the Polish frontman seems to have bags of potential. There are certainly worse – and definitely much more expensive – options out there.
