Former Tottenham star comes out in support of Levy

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has backed under-fire chairman Daniel Levy amid criticism from Spurs fans.

Many supporters have protested against Levy, who continues to be blamed for the club’s lack of silverware.

But Lloris, who spent 12 years at the club, told Hayters TV: “Daniel has my support. I know from inside all the really good things that he did for the club.

“He took the club at one level and took it to an amazing level and today Tottenham belongs among the best clubs in the world.

“We all know the reputation of Spurs lacking trophies, but at the same time you have to realise that in 20 years the club has become something huge in the football world, not only on the pitch but off the pitch with a strong image around the world.”

Lloris, 38, was part of the Spurs side which reached the Champions League final in 2019.

He made 447 appearances for the club before leaving last year to join Los Angeles FC.

“I know that they (the club’s owners) are working. They do their best to get that success,” the Frenchman said.

“For me, Daniel has been really huge for the club and he deserves a lot of credit.”
