Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has played down reports linking him with Bordeaux forward Malcom.

Tottenham are interested in the Brazilian and it has been claimed that north London rivals Arsenal are also keen.

Asked about Malcom at a press conference on Friday morning, Wenger said: “He’s a good player, but at the moment nothing is happening. We are not on that case at the moment.”

Wenger also insisted that “nothing is decided” over the future of Alexis Sanchez and was asked about Sam Allardyce confirming Everton’s interest in Theo Walcott.

Everton boss Allardyce is keen to take Walcott, 28, to Goodison Park during this month’s transfer window.

“If that’s at all possible that would be nice,” Allardyce said at his own press conference earlier on Friday.

“It’s not imminent but negotiations are going on and we’re hoping to negotiate a permanent deal.

“I don’t get optimistic otherwise I get disappointed. I’ll be very excited and enthused when someone, even if it’s not Theo has signed on the dotted line.

“He’s proven. He’s scored 100 goals for Arsenal from wide positions as well as many assists. He has pace which we lack in this squad.

“We’re short of goals goals so to add power to our goal-scoring would be very important for me – and he’s only 28.”

Wenger said: “I can’t tell you much more. Sam has made that statement, but Walcott is here.”
