QPR boss Mark Warburton has allayed fears that Jordy de Wijs picked up another injury against Bristol City.
It was the first appearance in Rangers colours for De Wijs, who was sidelined by a calf injury after his loan move from Hull City.
He impressed on his debut at Ashton Gate, where Warburton’s side won 2-0, but seemed to be in some discomfort as he was taken off just after the hour mark.
But Warburton indicated that the Dutch defender was taken off because of his lack of match action.
Warburton told West London Sport: “It was his first game. He’s played for the Under-23s and that’s a bit of a step up from the 23s and we have to look after him.”
Rangers’ victory over the Robins was their fourth away win in their last six matches on the road.
Warburton said: “We controlled long periods of the game against a very good team.
“There were moments in the game when we could have been more ruthless – and that’s the one criticism.
“The one criticism for us is that we should have been more ruthless in the second half. We got in some great areas and should really have killed the game off.
“So we’ve got to be more ruthless, but it’s a good afternoon’s work for sure.”
