Three QPR players unlikely to get another chance

A number of fringe players might well have reached the end of the line at QPR.

West London Sport reports that manager Steve McClaren has hinted that some are deemed to be surplus to requirements following this week’s Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League One Blackpool.

Rangers were beaten 2-0 at Bloomfield Road, where McClaren made a number of changes.

“We’ve looked at some of the players – those we can take forward, and those we can’t,” he said.

“The younger players in there especially are very disappointed because they have high hopes of progressing into our team and in football.”

If McClaren’s comments are anything to go by, QPR’s dire display means he has lost patience with some players.

There are three in particular who could perhaps now struggle to get a look-in.

Matt Ingram
Having lost his place to Joe Lumley after a terrible start to the season, the goalkeeper looks unlikely to displace the Rangers academy product.

Jordan Cousins
McClaren has seemed keen to give Cousins a chance to establish himself – even causing a stir by allowing talented midfielder Ryan Manning to join Rotherham on loan. But Cousins has continually flattered to deceive and his sending-off at Blackpool could be the final straw. He simply hasn’t justified the faith McClaren has shown in him.

Osman Kakay
McClaren just doesn’t seem to fancy the young right-back, who was handed a chance after Darnell Furlong suffered a knee injury in pre-season. The R’s boss opted to bring in Angel Rangel and, when the Spaniard picked up a groin strain, McClaren played Alex Baptiste against Norwich rather than recall Kakay, who then looked unconvincing when given a chance at Blackpool.
