QPR unlikely to offer deal to trialist

QPR are unlikely to sign trialist Lewis Walker, London Football News understands.

The 20-year-old son of former England defender Des Walker has been on trial with the R’s and has played in two matches for their Under-23 side.

The striker is looking for a new club, having left Derby County during the summer after his contract at Pride Park was terminated by mutual agreement.

Walker is regarded as a good prospect but has yet to have a crack at first-team football and is unlikely to get the opportunity at Loftus Road.

On-loan strikers Nahki Wells and Tomer Hemed are very much Rangers’ first choice frontmen and the likes of Matt Smith and Idrissa Sylla are also options for manager Steve McClaren.

There are also young forwards like Ebere Eze and Aramide Oteh at the club and little room for a player like Walker to make an impression.

Rangers are also giving a trial to former Watford central defender Charlie Rowan.

Rowan is looking for a new club, having left the Hornets after the end of last season, and is hoping to secure a move to west London.
