Luke Freeman is in no hurry to commit his long-term future to QPR.
Freeman has told West London Sport he sees no reason to rush to sign a new deal at Rangers, who are looking to extend his contract.
“It’s been talked about but there’s no rush as far as I’m concerned,” Freeman said.
“I’ve got two years left so it’s not like I’m coming towards the end of my contract. I’m very happy at QPR and we’ll see what happens.
“I’m only 26 and not in a situation where I need the security. I feel like time is on my side.”
Freeman’s comments are bound to worry many QPR fans as he has been instrumental since being signed from Bristol City in January last year.
He has 18 months remaining on his current deal and offers from Middlesbrough and Blackburn were rejected by Rangers during the summer.
QPR were able to pick him up for just £350,000 because he was approaching the end of his Bristol City contract and indicated he would not sign a new deal.
That forced the Robins to accept a knockdown price rather than lose him on a free transfer a few months later.
West London Sport reports that QPR are keen to avoid being the ones in that situation and therefore approached Freeman’s representatives about extending his contract.
