QPR star to sign new deal and stay at club

Geoff Cameron is set to stay at QPR for another season.

Rangers have lost skipper Grant Hall for the run-in, but American midfielder Cameron is staying on.

West London Sport reported last week that Hall, who was approaching the end of his contact, was leaving the club with immediate effect after rejecting the offer of a new deal.

The news was later confirmed by Rangers, who also recently parted with Marc Pugh by mutual consent.

But West London Sport have also reported that Cameron will be staying at Loftus Road.

Like Pugh, Cameron was signed by Rangers on a one-year contract with the option of a further year.

He was suspended for Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Barnsley – and manager Mark Warburton admitted the absence of the three experienced players was a big factor.

“You don’t normally lose players with nine games to go, but that’s where we are right now and you have to adjust,” Warburton said.

“The club wants to keep its best players but also maintain financial discipline in what is a very difficult economic climate.”

Warburton also admitted: “As a team we let ourselves down.

“We had to manage the game better. We were really poor for the first 45 minutes. We were 1-0 down and it could have been two.”
