Defender Finney’s move to QPR confirmed

QPR have confirmed the signing of former Bolton defender Alex Finney on a contract until the end of the season.

Finney, 20, has featured in a number of matches for Rangers’ development side in recent weeks.

His most recent appearance for the club’s second string came in a game against Coventry City played at Loftus Road last Friday.

“I’m really pleased to be here,” he told Rangers’ website.

“QPR is a fantastic club and there are a great set of lads here who are all keen to work really hard. This is everything that I want.

“Between now and the end of the season I really want to progress. It’s down to me to work on the personal goals set to me, and see where that takes me.”

Finney had been without a club since his Bolton contract was cancelled by mutual consent in August this year.

He joined Wanderers from Leyton Orient in 2014 after rejecting the east London side’s offer of a professional contract.

Finney, who came through the youth ranks at Orient, opted to join Bolton after a compensation deal was agreed between the two clubs.

But he was unable to establish himself as a first-team player at Wanderers.

Finney made three first-team appearances during his one-year stay at Bolton, with two of them coming in the league.

His final appearance came in a League Cup tie against Blackpool days before he was released by the League One club.
