QPR run into problem in bid to sign Johansen from Fulham

QPR’s pursuit of a deal to sign Stefan Johansen has been held up by uncertainty over the future of Scott Parker.

Bournemouth are keen to appoint Parker, who has been tipped to leave Fulham for the south coast.

Parker has been in discussions with the Fulham board about his position – and there has been a knock-on effect for Rangers.

West London Sport reports that a move for Johansen “was always likely to be protracted” but that the process “has been held up further” by the expected change of manager at Craven Cottage.

Johansen, who has a year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage, impressed while on loan with the R’s during the second half of last season and they want to sign him permanently.

A new manager at Fulham would no doubt want to assess the squad before making a decision on the futures of various players.

That leaves QPR and Johansen waiting for his future to be resolved ahead of the new season.

Whoever is in charge at Fulham will need to decide whether a player of proven Championship quality in Johansen will be allowed to leave.

The 30-year-old Norwegian made 21 appearances during his loan spell, scoring four goals.
