QPR duo set for moves as Warburton looks to trim squad

Paul Smyth and Conor Masterson look set to leave QPR on loan before this week’s deadline.

West London Sport reports that Rangers are ready to let both players leave on loan – and that Charlton are interested in Smyth.

Northern Ireland international Smyth, 23, spent last season on loan at Wycombe and before that was on loan at Accrington Stanley.

He has been out of the first-team picture at Loftus Road for some time and has fallen further down the pecking order following the signings of Albert Adomah, Chris Willock and Macauley Bonne.

Charlton recently sold Bonne to QPR and it seems they are ready to do business with them again, this time to take Smyth to The Valley.

And centre-back Masterson could also make a loan move in the coming days.

Plans to loan the him out last January were scrapped after he broke into the first team and impressed.

West London Sport say QPR will let Masterson go on loan if they bring in another centre-back and that manager Mark Warburton has been concerned that the youngster’s encouraging run of games might result in him missing out on vital first-team experience by remaining on the fringes of the Rangers side rather than going out on loan.

Masterson did not make a senior appearance before joining Rangers from Liverpool last year, so his exposure to first-team football has been limited.
