QPR boss Holloway wants more time

Ian Holloway says he needs time to turn QPR’s fortunes around.

Rangers lost 18 of their 30 matches following Holloway’s return to the club for a second spell as manager and they only narrowly avoided relegation.

The R’s finished 18th in the Championship – their lowest-placed finish for 10 years.

Holloway made wholesale changes in January and wants to further revamp the squad during this summer’s transfer window.

In fact, he claims it will take two transfer windows to significantly change things for the better at Loftus Road.

The club’s budget will be cut this year, limiting their options in the market, but Holloway is keen to make changes.

He recently brought in his close friend and former team-mate Gary Penrice as recruitment chief and wants to bring in new players before the start of next season.

“It’s going to take another couple of windows. We’re not moving forward money-wise, we’ll be moving backwards,” Holloway told West London Sport.

“Other clubs might be adding to their budgets, but we’ve thrown a load of money away and we’re not going to do that anymore.

“Hopefully, with the new scouting network I’m putting together, I’ll be able to coach and I’ll be able to get people I can have.”
